When she was a junior high school student, she met a family who came from abroad and first encountered experience with non-Japanese people.

She had traveling by herself in the world dozens countries from 18 years old,

she was attracted to the environment issue, traditional foods and cultures.

She has kindergarten teacher, nursery teacher, and care worker qualifications.

After graduated from junior college, she lived to the Australia, and after came back to Japan, she had working in a nursing home for the elderly.

After married and had birth experience, she was inspired to become a birth doula following her own birth experience and after helping her local American friend to overcome socio-cultural challenges concerning her birth.

She is a birth/stillbirth doula, assisting mothers since 2017, and established

ikumi-birthdoula to support Japanese mothers and partners also, non-Japanese mothers and their family.

She is strongly believes in a non-judgemental approach with a focus on emotional and individual support for clients. Also, when she had pregnancy 3rd time, she had great doula experience with partner and she impressed how doula's role is encouragement for mothers and partner. In addition as she realized partner's perspective during a pregnancy, so she stated have a gathering with partners dialogue group since 2020 in Nagasaki with local midwives. Also, she had experience to working in an University in Japan as supported lots of exchange students and researchers who came from overseas more than 11 years.

She is interested in utilizing arts and crafts to connect local parents to their birthing emotions and experiences.  Currently living in Fukuoka, Japan.
